PARTNERS FOR SUCCESS

Partners for Success is aimed at improving the educational outcomes of Alaska Native and Native American students in grades 7 through 12. Collaborating with the Anchorage School District, Partners for Success provides accredited core and elective math and language arts classes within four ASD schools. In each school, CITC's three to five person team (Certified Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Family Advocates and Counselors) provide personalized, wraparound services to students and their families. Incorporating Native ways of teaching and learning, the culturally relevant curriculum offered in CITC Language Arts meets all the grade level expectations required in the Anchorage School District.

Partners for Success classrooms are student-centered, offering individualized learning opportunities, smaller classroom sizes with a certified teacher, assistant teacher and family advocate and an exploration of a variety of Native customs and cultures as a means for gaining a better understanding of Language Arts and Mathematics. Students are supported by comprehensive educational planning, support services and follow-up during transitions encompassing rural-urban, school-to-school and school-to-life transitions.

The goals of Partners for Success are to:

1. Increase family involvement in Native education

2. Improve staff performance with Native students

3. Increase access to academic opportunities for Native students

4.

Embed Native culture into the curricula for our classes

5. Assist students and their families to make successful transitions
