Tribal Scholarships and Grants Program

The Tribal Training Grant program helps eligible Alaska Natives, American Indians and Native Hawaiians residing within the Cook Inlet Region obtain short-term certification or vocational training for job enhancement and/or employability. Funding is need-based and available on a first-come, first-completed basis and is not intended to cover the full cost of training.


The Tribal Higher Education Scholarship program provides scholarship awards for eligible Native CIRI shareholders and direct lineal descendants of Original Enrollees pursuing higher education from an accredited college, university or training facility.

Deadlines are June 30th for Fall, and December 1st for Spring.

Important! Tribal members of Chickaloon, Kenai, Knik, Ninilchik, Salamatof and Tyonek must apply directly through their village scholarship programs prior to applying for this scholarship.



The Alyeska Match Scholarship is provided by Cook Inlet Tribal Council in agreement with the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. Eligible Alaska Native students must be enrolled in majors specified by Alyeska. These funds help prepare the recipient for an opportunity to be considered for employment on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS).

Deadlines are June 30th for Fall, December 1st for Spring.

Please note! Eligible fields of study for the 2007-08 Academic Year are as follows:

Engineering: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Safety, Engineering Technology
Safety: Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
IT/SCADA: IT certifications, Marketing, Graphic Design, AAS and BA/BS degrees
Process Technology: Process Technology
Quality Assurance/Inspections Professionals/Project Managers: See Safety and Engineering majors

CITC’s Tribal Scholarships Program has a new scholarship now available to Alaska Native and American Indian students residing in the Anchorage area.

The Mellen Shea Memorial Scholarship was developed to provide financial assistance to Alaska Native and American Indian students who are pursuing a postsecondary degree in education. Scholarship award selection criteria are based upon timely submission of a complete applicant form, as well as the quality and sincerity of the written essay.

Annual deadline is May 1st.



All four scholarships are offered for eligible students that have demonstrated need, have met the eligibility requirements and have complete applications as funding is available at the deadline. Please review the applications and eligibility requirements prior to applying.
