Alaska's People Career Center

The Alaska's People Career Development Center is a walk-in Career Center open to anyone seeking employment or training opportunities. The Career Center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30AM-4:30PM.

Job seekers can participate in workshops on résumé writing, interview skills, career exploration, job search techniques, basic computer skills and life skills workshops.

The center has computers with Microsoft Windows programs and typing tutorials. Job seekers can access the Internet for job postings across the State of Alaska and to find information on education/training opportunities. The career center also provides access to a phone, fax and copy machine to complete job search related tasks. Job seekers can access job applications and store their résumé in the center for later use.

Anyone is welcome to use the Career Center during open hours on a walk-in basis. Please contact (907) 793-3371 for more information.

The Career Center also provides a GED preparation program in partnership with Nine Star Enterprises to assist those Alaska Natives and American Indians without a HS diploma to earn their GED. Classes run year round and provide both classroom lessons and one-on-one tutoring to pass the five subject areas of the GED: Math; Reading; Writing; Social Studies; and Science.

All students who want to pursue their GED must enroll by calling (907) 793-3378 to schedule to take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
