Child Care Assistance Program

The Child Care Assistance Program provides financial assistance to Alaska Native and Native American families who are in need of daycare services for children under the age of 13. If the family is receiving Public Assistance, they must contact their case worker to request an authorization for child care assistance.

Eligibility is determined by a sliding fee scale using your household income for the last 30 days. The extent of child care needs is based on the parents' activities. They must be engaged in educational, training, employment and/or employment-related activities.

Assistance is offered to approved families through a Certificate system. Certificates may be utilized in a variety of child care categories including center based, family home, group home, and in-home care. Payments are made directly to the child care provider based upon approved certificates for each quarter.  Parents must submit pay stubs or timesheets on a monthly basis before a payment will be issued to the provider.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Applicant or child(ren) must be Alaska Native or Native American.
