Supported Work Services

The Supported Employment Program offers Alaska Native and American Indian job seekers the opportunity to be placed in the following type of positions:
 
Community Work Experience, which are unpaid placements in non-profit agencies which assist job seekers to gain current work experience and build skills that will help them gain paid employment in the future.
 
Supported Employment is a temporary paid position to assist job seekers to expand on current work experience to gain unsubsidized employment.
 
On-The-Job Training (OJT) is a a temporary paid position to expand on current work experience and to gain long term permanant employment with an employer who contributes 50% of the workers wages for up to 6 months.
 
Eligibility requirements include  - Certificate of Indian Blood, unemployed and low-income status.
 
The Supported Employment Program also assists job seekers to access information on education/training opportunities, provides career counseling and assists students to find funding for training.
