Alaska businesses have a historic opportunity.

In July, 2011, the Alaska State Legislature expanded the size and scope of the Alaska Education Tax Credit by increasing the financial benefits for corporations making cash donations to eligible institutions.

The Alaska Education Tax Credit now allows your business to contribute to nonprofit organizations—such as Cook Inlet Tribal Council—that provide educational support programs, or Alaska Native cultural or heritage programs for public school students in grades K-12.

Each year, CITC helps brighten the future of more than 3,000 youth through our educational and cultural initiatives. Effective January 1, 2011, your donation to one of Cook Inlet
Tribal Council’s educational programs makes your company eligible for a tax
credit of 50-100 percent of your total gift, up to $5 million.

Companies may also qualify for additional federal tax savings as related to education gifts.

The tax credit allows for progressive tiers where the donor company will receive additional credits on amounts above the previous tier:

• 50 percent of your contribution up to $100,000

• 100 percent of your contribution on amounts between $100,000 to $300,000

• 50 percent of your contribution on amounts more than $300,000

CITC is here as your partner to ensure our community’s most vulnerable children receive a quality education—one that prepares and empowers them for success in academics and in life.

Partners For Success

Operating as a “school-within-a-school,” CITC’s Partners For Success program is a unique, collaborative partnership that helps Alaska Native and American Indian students within the Anchorage School District (ASD) reconnect with their heritage, and achieve academic success.

CITC operates in eight schools reaching more than 500 kids each year. With your partnership, CITC classes are able to offer:

•  Smaller class sizes, where individualized learning plans and individual instruction are possible

•  Practices and teaching methods that honor our Native traditions and cultivate a sense of cultural identity and
confidence

•  “Wrap-around” services that offer support for challenges outside of the classroom

Your donation helps address our Native student’s overall well-being, and provides
the needed advocacy to achieve success in a system where cultural and racial
differences may often place them at a disadvantage.

Dena’ina House

Dena’ina House, slated to open in the Fall of 2012, will provide a safe, stable, long-term housing option for at-risk high school students ages 14 to 18. Immersed in an environment that reinforces
their Alaska Native culture, residents in Dena’ina House will graduate from high school with a strong sense of themselves and their cultural identity, and will be capable of achieving their college and vocational goals. The Dena’ina House will prepare students as community leaders and ambassadors of their culture as they move forward in an increasingly complex world. The program is grounded in the Dena’ina culture, but it is designed to include the values that all Alaska Native people share, and provide a meaningful connection for each student to their own cultural traditions.

The scope and impact of your educational investment reaches far beyond the classroom:

 NYO Games Alaska

Native Youth Olympics Games Alaska is an annual athletic event for an estimated 2,000 youth in grades 1–12 from across the state competing in traditional contests of skill and strength. The Games
are open to all youth, and promote healthy lifestyles, traditional values and positive sportsmanship—all in an atmosphere of fun, excitement and entertainment.

Camp Na Tikahtnu K’Tiya

CITC’s Camp Na Tikahtnu K’Tiya (Dena’ina Athabascan for “Cook Inlet bull moose”) is a summer cultural enrichment camp for Alaska Native and American Indian youth ages 12–18. Held each summer, the camp provides youth an opportunity to learn traditional activities and explore
environmental education in a rural camp setting in Ninilchik, Alaska.

We at CITC believe the greatest investment we can make is in the future of our young people. It is our
steadfast commitment to our youth that guides our efforts each day. We believe that by investing in our young people and providing them with the best educational opportunities possible, we invest in our own future, and the future of our community.

With your partnership and financial gift, we can achieve tremendous results.

The tax credit expansion provides an increased incentive for giving that will ensure your generous gift goes even further. CITC has the dedication, resources and structure in-place within ASD
to translate your gift into measurable outcomes.

You have the opportunity to enjoy the rewards associated with partnering with our students, their families and our teachers by helping some of our community’s most vulnerable youth realize their
own dreams—all while lessening your company’s tax burden.

In turn, your investment will reap multiple dividends by preparing young Alaskans for life and their future in the job market, while providing our community with a stable, qualified and
well-prepared work force.

We are extremely grateful for your partnership as we work towards a shared vision of a better community, and a more promising future for our young people.

Together, we are making a difference.
